This week, we’re focusing on something that often gets overlooked… moving with intent and purpose during our warm-ups. It’s not just about the workout itself, but how you approach it from the very first rep.
Your warm-up isn’t just a box to check before the “real work” begins. It’s where you set the tone for your entire session. When you move with focus—whether it’s a bodyweight squat, shoulder rotation, or a light jog—you’re teaching your body how to perform better, move safer, and recover faster.
Why do we warm up?
The main purpose of a warm up is to prepare your body and mind for more demanding movement. A proper warm-up:
- Increases blood flow to your muscles, which improves flexibility and performance.
- Raises your heart rate and body temperature, helping your body adjust gradually to physical activity.
- Activates key muscle groups you’ll use in your workout, improving coordination and strength.
- Reduces the risk of injury by loosening joints and improving the range of motion.
- Mentally prepares you to focus, move with intention, and get the most out of your training session
What is a proper warm up?
A proper warm-up follows the RAMP protocol.
- Raise – heart rate, get blood flowing
- Activate – the muscles being used in the workout
- Mobilize – the joints being used in the workout
- Potentiate – prepare with workout-specific movements
At Limitless Performance, our goal is to give you the best hour of your day while helping you become the best version of yourself. That starts the moment you begin your warm-up. So as we kick off this new training phase, take a few extra seconds to breathe, focus, and move with intention. Every rep counts—even the easy ones.
